Terms of Service

By accessing or using Briefd (“the platform”, “we”, “us”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

Briefd is a marketplace that connects clients who need design work with designers who create it. All transactions are processed through our escrow-protected payment system. Clients posting open submission briefs pay a non-refundable brief deposit. Designers pay a commission on closed deals.

Briefd operates a strict zero tolerance policy against off-platform communication and payment. The following are prohibited and will result in a permanent ban:

• •Sharing social media handles, email addresses, or any contact information in chat
• •Requesting or accepting payment outside of Briefd (PayPal, Venmo, crypto, bank transfer, etc.)
• •Directing another user to contact you through any platform other than Briefd
• •Attempting to circumvent the platform's commission structure in any way

All chat messages are monitored automatically. Violations trigger an immediate, permanent account ban with no right of appeal. Device fingerprints and IP addresses of banned users are stored permanently to prevent re-registration.

In exceptional circumstances, users who believe a ban was applied in error may contact us at support@briefd.design to request a review. Briefd is not obligated to reinstate accounts but will consider good-faith appeals.

When posting an open brief, clients pay a non-refundable brief deposit. Deposit amounts are: $15 for briefs up to $199, $25 for briefs $200–$499, $40 for briefs $500–$999, and $60 for briefs $1,000 and above. If the client hires a designer, the deposit is credited toward the final project price. If no designer is hired, the deposit is distributed among the designers whose work the client previewed. Work Request briefs do not require a deposit — instead the full agreed fee is locked into escrow before the designer begins work.

• •Design payments are processed through Stripe and held in escrow until the client confirms receipt of the clean file.
• •Designers receive payment directly to their connected Stripe account after deal completion. Briefd charges designers a commission on closed deals.
• •All prices are in USD. Briefd is not responsible for currency conversion fees.

• •Designers retain ownership of all submitted work until payment is completed.
• •Upon successful payment, ownership of the commissioned work transfers to the client.
• •Watermarked preview files may not be used commercially by the client under any circumstances.
• •Designers who submit work grant Briefd a limited licence to display watermarked previews on the platform.

• •You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• •You must provide accurate information during registration.
• •You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent a ban or platform restrictions.
• •Accounts found to be operated by the same person using different identities may be banned.

You may not post briefs or submit work that includes:

• •Illegal content of any kind
• •Content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights
• •Adult or sexually explicit material
• •Content intended to deceive, defraud, or harm other users

Briefd provides the platform “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for disputes between clients and designers, the quality of submitted work, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform. Our total liability to you will not exceed the brief deposits paid by clients and the commission fees paid by designers in the 12 months prior to any claim.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for violations of these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting support. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of brief deposits or designer commission fees already paid.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify registered users of material changes by email.

Your use of Briefd is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read it carefully — it explains how we collect, store, and use your data, including device fingerprints and IP addresses for ban enforcement.
